Danny is now a grey goatee as Maureen, the love of his life, never has been too keen on a full beard. After a hiatus of about 3 years he has come back to writing poetry since Feb. this year. He is now totally addicted to performance poetry and 'getting laughter' from his works is 'like a drug'. He will have to go cold-turkey one day but for now he's enjoying the journey one day at a time. He also thinks he can write in a literary fashion. He fell into flash fiction and now writes autobiography in 50 word segments. He will have a suite of 3 poems called 'London Cycle' published in the first edition of Lyric Poetry Magazine and will have their companion piece 'Tube' appear in that magazine's soon to be up and running website.

The Old Shawl

¬Ý

My mother’Äôs old shawl

Tattered now, and frayed,

Lies spread over the piano

As it has for forty years.

Paisley pattern fading,

Your face too, fades with time,

And the twisted teardrop droops

On the woven cloth.

¬Ý

When the patterns were clear

The designs bright and colourful

And your face had a smile,

The scrolled leaf

Reminded me of Lennon’Äôs Rolls Royce

And we danced together

Swirling in the curved Kashmir abstractions

A symbol of life and eternity.
